The Deep South clings to its traditions, so when young Shana Mae O'Hara chose a path not to become a young lady, it estranged her from her mother and sister, Sioban. Instead, Shana played with her brothers and took after her father, a skilled martial arts instructor. She began training at age nine, and earned her first black belt by 15. Like all of the O'Hara children, Shana worked hard to impress her father by besting her brothers in sparring matches. But Shana's father's focus was set upon instilling in them a sense of confidence and self-respect. Shana, to her credit, exhibited a talent for learning a person's individual fighting style and pinpointing its weaknesses. Her insight was so keen that her brothers would conceal their identities with masks while training, hoping to delay her natural advantage for even a moment.
