Very little solid information exists of SNAKE EYES' past, and what is known has been collected from personal, unofficial accounts. Any records of his early military career vanished in a mysterious fire at Fort Leonard Wood, leaving his existence shrouded in mystery. What is known is that after a period of dark, directionless wandering SNAKE EYES travelled to Japan and learned the ways of the Arashikage ninjas. There, he proved to be a remarkably quick student under the eyes of Soft Master and Hard Master, who uncharacteristically took a shine to the outsider. However, the endless string of tragedies that seemingly dogged SNAKE EYES' every move ended Hard Master's life with a misplaced arrow. SNAKE EYES fled back to the United States seeking to spare his adopted clan more sorrow. Having endured hardships that would have either killed a lesser man or stripped from him any compassion, he continues to serve his nation and his companions.
