A little Ghost may have hinted at the next Destiny expansion0 Comments
It never shocks me when players unearth something that developers had wanted to keep secret, especially not if it’s hidden within the game itself or the source code. I am, however, impressed when people are able to perform this task within minutes of the discovery even being possible to claim, which is exactly what some Destiny players have done after the April patch.
The April update for Destiny did not add a wealth of content, but the revamped Prison of Elders arena featured a small malfunctioning Ghost whose hard drive was in good enough condition to glean some pretty important information from it. Only sixteen minutes after the update went live, a Reddit user managed to find the Ghost within the Prison of Elders and upload a walkthrough for how to follow in his footsteps.
The account the guide was posted under was named Rezyl Azzir, which is coincidentally the name of a character contained within the Ghost's memory. The file also included details about Azzir's life, and discussed the founding of Destiny's main hub city, The Tower. What complicated matters further was that the account that posted the walkthrough, as well as the post itself, vanished shortly afterwards, but not before posting one line of Latin: "Vegisima die mensis noni. ILLUD est venturus. Per Audacia ad astra."
The phrase was translated by Latin Redditors shortly afterwards to mean "The twentieth day of the ninth month. IT is coming. Forward, to the stars." Bungie has said that there won’t be any more content for Destiny until the game’s big September update goes live, but it might just be that we now have an idea about what that patch will bring, likely on September 20th.
