Accomplished lead designer leaves Blizzard to work at Obsidian0 Comments
Industry veteran Leonard Boyarsky has just left his job as lead designer on Diablo 3 to join the ranks at Obsidian Entertainment. In the past, Boyarsky was art director for the original Fallout, and lead artist on Fallout 2 at Interplay Productions.
A post dated April 11 on Boyarsky’s Facebook page shows that he left his job at Blizzard and another Facebook post by Obsidian’s Tim Cain declares Leonard Boyarsky as his “new coworker.” This was later confirmed by a tweet on Obsidian’s official account. Cain and Boyarsky worked together in the past, when Cain was lead programmer on the original Fallout.
There have been no official announcements as to what game Boyarsky will be working on, but we are speculating that he may be designing Paradox and Obsidian’s recently announced Tyranny. The open-world, choice-driven game was only just announced at last month’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco and based on the genre, it lines up nicely with Boyarsky’s demonstrated talents.
