Atari addressees Steam user complaints on Roller Coaster Tycoon World0 Comments
Last month, the first entry in the Roller Coaster Tycoon series in over a decade launched on Steam Early Access. Unfortunately, Roller Coaster Tycoon World has received "mostly negative" reviews on the popular gaming platform, but Atari has addressed concerns and stated that they are continuing work on this Early Access title. Atari CEO Fredric Chesnais has come forward to tell MCV that the game is an ongoing project, and that Atari still has about eighty staff members and contractors working on the title. With this in mind, Chesnais still has hope that they will improve on the game.
“We have had a number of negative reactions from launch, but if you look at the number of concurrent users – people playing the game – I think it is pretty good. It’s a long run, this isn’t a hit and run project, we’re not about to walk away. There is a lot to come, and we have a post-launch plan to introduce new features.”
While Atari is hard at work to make a game that customers will be more satisfied with, the Steam’s Early Access platform’s reviews aren’t always the most helpful. Chenais said:
“If you work two years on a project and love your game, and then you release it and you have positive and negative reviews and other reviews – and by ‘other’ I mean people who trash the game even if they’ve barely played it – then, well, you have to love your job, right?”
This illustrates just how simple it is for companies to now interact with their fans to continue to create patches and updates that reflect the player’s wants and needs. Through continued work and support, Atari is sure that they can create a more satisfying and user-friendly title.
