Battlefield 1 officially revealed, set in World War I0 Comments
After a couple days of teasing, EA and DICE have now officially unveiled "the future of Battlefield," though you could just as easily say the past of Battlefield, as this new entry will be taking us back in time. Titled Battlefield 1, the newest FPS title will take place during World War I, which the developers call, "the genesis of modern warfare." It will apparently boast some of the largest vehicles they've ever included, some of which you can probably catch a glimpse of in the trailer above. Some of the vehicles include battleships, planes, and even horses.
It's a very pretty, if not terribly gameplay-heavy look at the upcoming game. From what we do get to see, it no doubt uses the gorgeous engine that brought Star Wars Battlefront to life, so at the very least it will be a treat to look at. What I find most interesting about this announcement is the idea that the two biggest FPS franchises will be going in opposite directions with their upcoming entries — Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be taking place in the future, while Battlefield 1 will be in the past.
Battlefield 1 releases worldwide on October 21.
