Bethesda isn't working on The Elder Scrolls VI right now0 Comments
The Elder Scrolls series enjoys a fan following that is largely without precedent. The latest entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, could easily be considered one of the most popular games of the last decade, so of course fans are curious to know how progress is going with The Elder Scrolls VI. One such curious fan took to Twitter to ask Pete Hines if Bethesda's previously-mentioned other projects might take the team's focus away from the next Elder Scrolls game, and the answer he received likely wasn't the answer he was expecting.
@HotShame0 we aren't working on TES6 at the moment— Pete Hines (@DCDeacon) June 25, 2016
Ouch. Of course, this isn't to say that there haven't been any efforts made toward the next Elder Scrolls game — at the very least, the series has a vast foundation of lore for the team to build upon — but it does indicate that the studio isn't actively developing the game at this point in time.
Aside from hints that Bethesda is looking into VR development and pushing further into a mobile market, not much is known about what the studio plans to come out with next. Todd Howard has gone on record as saying their upcoming projects are "bigger than anything we’ve done [before]," so chances are good their next announcement will be a considerable one.
