Blizzard reveals Overwatch's new hero0 Comments
One of the most promising ideas behind the insanely popular new shooter Overwatch was that new content would be added to the title for free over the course of its life. Since its launch, there has been no shortage of speculation as to the identity of any future heroes. Now, fans can scratch at least one possibility off of their lists, as the first new hero to join the roster is Pharah's mother, Ana.
One of the founding members of Overwatch — and long considered dead — Ana Amari returns to the battlefield with a very interesting new playstyle that you may have seen teased not long ago. She takes the role of a support sniper, with a rifle that can both heal allies and damage enemies. She can fire a Sleep Dart from her sidearm that renders enemies unconcious, but any damage dealt to them will cancel the effect. Also in her arsenal is a Biotic Grenade, which heals allies and increases the healing they receive while damaging enemies and preventing them from healing for a moment. Finally, her ultimate ability is Nano Boost, which buffs a single ally to move faster, deal more damage, and take less damage.
There's no release date for her just yet, but above you can check out her gameplay trailer, and you can also watch her origin story here. If you want a better look at her abilities, head over to her new Overwatch profile.
She looks very promising, and, as someone who primarily plays healers, I'm certainly interested in giving her a shot. With Lucio and Zenyatta being my most played heroes by a long shot, I could use an interesting new way to backup my teammates.
