Bungie story scribe leaves studio after 13 years0 Comments
Another Bungie employee has decided to leave the nest, this time it's a story writer who's been with the company for over a decade.
CJ Cowan — who started with Bungie as a cinematic designer for Halo 2 in 2003 before becoming the story creative lead for Destiny — announced his departure via an Instagram post that he also shared on Twitter. The announcement came accompanied with a picture of Cowan in front of the Bungie sign and read "After 13 years, I decided to part ways with Bungie yesterday. How am I just now realizing the logo is a sad face?"
Cowan joins an increasing list of long-tenured Bungie employees that have left the company, including longtime Halo composer Marty O'Donnell in 2014 and story author Joseph Staten, who left via this blog post the year before due to changes in Destiny's story arc.
Another one bites the dust at Bungie, this time a story guy at a time when Destiny 2's story might be just getting fleshed out. I hope this newest departure is simply a writer who wants a new universe to write for, though I am legitimately curious about the current working climate over there since Activision took over. I hope these folks leaving aren't a sign of major discontent.
