Co-op survival sim The Wild Eight now on Kickstarter0 Comments
There's a new title looking for funding on Kickstarter that's aiming to present some new twists on a couple of the most tried-and-true gaming formulas. It's called The Wild Eight, and it's a project from developer 8 Points that looks to blend elements of tense survival simulations with co-operative mechanics and procedurally-generated environments.
According to the game's Kickstarter page, The Wild Eight has been in development since around September of 2015, and is being by developed by a crew of just eight people — hence the studio's name. They'd initially started out looking to put together a car combat title, but after a step back and a look at their direction, they decided to do something that speaks less to gaming and more to life itself.
It must be said, their work so far looks good. The game has neat low-poly aesthetic filled with crisp lines and colors alternating between the cool whites of a harsh winter and the warm glow of a campire. The soundtrack sounds excellent, too — it's both clean and moody, and will apparently be employed in layers that can be switched in and out depending on what's happening in the game.
8 Points are looking to raise $50,000 for The Wild Eight, and in the chance that funding goes well, they've provided a number of stretch goals, with an Xbox One simultaneous release at $150,000 and a PlayStation 4 simultaneous release at $200,000. Otherwise, the game will launch for PC, Mac, and Linux systems with a planned release date in December of this year.
