CyberConnect2 is opening a studio in the Great White North0 Comments
I’m always stoked when developers decide to open up studios in Canada, and Montreal is a hotbed for AAA and independent developers. CyberConnect2 have announced that they will be the newest team to join the growing industry in the second largest Canadian city, according to an interview by Famitsu.
The CEO and president of CyberConnect2, Hiroshi Matsuyama, explained the move in more detail in his interview. “It’s a complete development studio...We’re in the midst of worldwide developments, and I thought ‘we might need some blue-eyed samurai?’ about our first phase of expanding outside. I believe there are still many foreigners that would like to have a shot at Japanese-style creativity."
CyberConnect2 was founded in Japan in 1996, and this will be their first studio full studio in North America. The team is known best for their work on the classic .hack// series, as well as the Naruto Shippuden series and several other anime-themed games. They haven't said what they plan on working on at the new studio, but it will be great for some developers to get a chance at making games that typically come out of Japan.
