Dark Souls III first week sales 'incredibly strong', Bandai Namco says0 Comments
Dark Souls III has been enjoying great success lately, and not just from a critical perspective, but financially, too. Bandai Namco stated that the "incredibly strong" sales numbers for Dark Souls III marked the title being the fastest-selling game in the company's history, which is no small feat. However, they did not release any sort of hard numbers to coincide with the news, which may point to the publisher needing to keep a tight lid on something currently in motion.
Overseas, Dark Souls III topped the United Kingdom’s sales charts on launch week, according to Chart-Track. Currently, the best bet for actual U.S. sales numbers will have to wait until May, when the NPD Group releases its April report. While this is well and good, there have been speed bumps with the PC platform. The glaring issue is a bug causing the game to crash for various players. Although a patch has been released, it hasn’t addressed that particular problem.
Our review of Dark Souls III praised its successful attempt at calling “back to the great parts of the series' history while still having an identity of its own.” If that wasn’t good enough, the game’s first expansion will arrive this fall, which should provide an ocean’s worth of playable content on top of the base game.
