Darksiders is getting remastered for PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC0 Comments
As far as genre-blending gameplay goes, the Darksiders series is kind of in a class of its own. Most easily described as combining gameplay elements from The Legend of Zelda and God of War, the original Darksiders was met with considerable praise but surprisingly little fanfare. Perhaps it just never reached a big enough audience. Regardless, publisher Nordic Games have announced that a Darksiders remaster is on the way to help bring the game's signature apocalyptic action to all the usual current-gen platforms.
The new version of the game is called Darksiders Warmastered Edition, another twist on the usual phrase in the vein of last year's Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition, and features the sort of enhancements players have come to expect from HD upgrades — 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second, increase in texture resolutions, and improvements to shadows, among other refinements.
There's no release date yet for Darksiders Warmastered Edition — Nordic Games' website only says that the title is "coming soon" — but we do know that the game will be releasing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and even the Wii U. There's no listed price, either, but considering that the Darksiders 2 remaster launched for $30 USD, it may be that Darksiders Warmastered Edition will be priced similarly.
[Update] A press release from Nordic Games revealed that Darksiders Warmastered Edition will launch on October 25 for $20, and that the PC version will include 4K support.
