Data miners reveal nearly everything there is to know about Battlefield 10 Comments
If recent trends are to be believed, tech-savvy gamers and internet sleuths don't like being surprised by the contents of a video game. Yet another tremendous data-mining venture has concluded, this time into the depths of the code underlying Battlefield 1's closed alpha, and the now widely-available results have revealed nearly everything there is to know about the game.
The details first popped up on Reddit, where user Lobix (who credits the find along with another user identified as [JV]spitart14) provided an extensive dump of information as well as an apology to the creative forces behind Battlefield 1, saying, "EA & DICE, I'M SORRY <3."
Anyone who wishes to be surprised by what the game has to offer should consider the following to be a spoiler.
The leak has revealed the general scope of the single-player campaign, which is comprised of 20 chapters playing across six episodes. Much of the dialogue has been revealed through uncovered subtitles, and includes an at least partial list of the character's names. An entire list of over 30 weapons has been revealed, including several mystery categories like "behemoth weapons" and "calvary weapons," as well as a list of 20 gadgets and seven different melee weapons. In addition, a seemingly-full list of the names of 10 different multiplayer maps has been revealed, as well as what looks to be eight different game modes.
The full list of leaked information is both surprisingly long as well as surprisingly revelatory. From what can be seen, the full version of Battlefield 1 will have a lot to offer — or, at the very least, it will offer as much as similar games in the genre. Players interested in the title will likely find such information to be good news. On the other hand, those who like to keep the contents of a game largely as a surprise can see all of what Battlefield 1 has to offer when the game launches on October 21.
