Developer N-Space officially closes after 21 years0 Comments
It appears that 2016 is turning out to be quite the distressing year for a multitude of video game developers. The latest company closing its doors is none other than N-Space. While this name might not be super familiar, chances are you're aware of some of the Florida-based studio's work. A decade ago they created the GameCube exclusive Geist, and more recently they launched Sword Coast Legends on PC.
Wizards of the Coast made the announcement that N-Space was closing up shop. Their spokesperson stated:
"Yes, N-Space is shutting down, and we are super-sad about it. We are proud of everything they did in bringing Sword Coast Legends to D&D fans, and we sincerely hope everyone at N-Space lands on their feet. As for Sword Coast Legends going forward, it is unclear at this time, but we are working with Digital Extremes, the official PC publisher, to make sure everyone has the best possible experience with the game. Right now, we believe the Rage of Demons DLC will be released for PC, but we are confirming with Digital Extremes."
What about the console versions of Sword Coast Legends which were promised earlier this year? Don't panic just yet. Wizards of the Coast also shared that "the console versions are complete." The only thing they're not sure of at the moment is a specific release window, but expect it to be "soon."
There's no doubt that a closure of any studio is a loss for the gaming community. Luckily, Sword Coast Legends will apparently live on. Here's hoping that everyone at N-Space is able to quickly find new jobs, whether within or outside of the gaming industry.
