Double Fine's latest game Headlander will launch later this month0 Comments
Double Fine Productions has been working on their action title Headlander for quite some time — we first reported on the game back in August of last year. Apparently work has gone well, and their latest bit of delightfully-weird gaming goodness is now on track to release later this month.
Headlander is unusual, to say the least. Players take control of a flying, dissociated human head that can decapitate its enemies and then mount itself onto their shoulders and assume control over their bodies. It sounds grim, but the game isn't as bloody as that description makes it out to be. The decapitation and re-capitation (if you will) is a central mechanic to the game, and it starts to make sense once it's seen in action. Much of the how and why behind the mechanic is explained in the game's latest story trailer above.
Double Fine is well-known for seemingly strange ideas, so if anyone could pull off a game like this, they certainly could. The game is also a joint venture between Double Fine and Adult Swim Games, which only serves to add credence to the game's quirks. Headlander will be dropping on PlayStation 4 and PC on July 26.
