Fable Legends officially shuts down0 Comments
With the closing of longtime Microsoft developer Lionhead Studios fast approaching, the last project the team ever worked on — the multiplayer co-op adventure Fable Legends — has officially been shut down.
Those participating in the ongoing closed beta were greeted with a login error screen and a small note from the team, marking the official end of the Fable Legends project — at least for now. This is but one of the many milestones that await Lionhead Studios as the end of their almost 20 years as a development studio comes to a close.
"All stories have to end eventually," the somber note on the login error screen says, “but the memories of Heroic triumphs and Villainous plots will last forever. Thank you for your support - you are all Legends!"
Lionhead's closure really stinks. That name has been synonymous with video games since Peter Molyneux started the studio back in 1996, creating the vast world of Albion in the Fable series and the PC classic Black and White. I hope Microsoft keeps all of the now unemployed Lionhead employees and finds them a new spot in their studio portfolio, as they're much too talented a team to just be set free. Farewell Fable Legends, we (who were not in the beta) hardly knew ye.
