Final Fantasy XII to receive a remaster titled The Zodiac Age0 Comments
Final Fantasy X and X-2 receiving remasters was all fine and dandy, and it was great to play through those games again all these years later, but many fans — myself included — have been holding out for the return of the less popular PS2 title, Final Fantasy XII. Now our wish has finally been granted, as Square Enix just revealed the PlayStation 4 remaster titled Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, along with the trailer that can be seen above.
As hinted by the subtitle, this version will be a bit different than what you remember from playing FFXII on the PS2. The Zodiac Age is a remaster of the "International Zodiac Job System" version of the game that released in Japan a year after the original release. This will be the first time those of us in the West have gotten our hands on this makeover, which centers around a revamped license system made up of 12 boards which each relate to a different Zodiac sign and job, giving the game a job system rather than having everyone be all-around characters.
As you'd expect, this remaster will include updated visuals and audio, as well as autosave, reduced load times, trophies, and the like. I don't know how likely it is, but I'm hoping they'll do what they did for the remaster of Final Fantasy X and let us choose which progression system we want to use, as I liked not having characters be chained to specific roles. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age releases for PlayStation 4 in 2017.
