Ghibli inspired 2D platformer Lynn and the Spirits of Inao Kickstarter launches0 Comments
It’s no secret that Studio Ghibli is legendary for its breathtaking art style, which is even a trope now. In recent years, its signature style made its way to video games with the Ni No Kuni franchise, but it looks like that won’t be the only title. Lynn and the Sprits of Inao, is a 2D adventure platformer currently under development by Bloomylight Studio, and indie developer from France. It launched a Kickstarter campaign for their Ghibli-esque title, which draws heavy inspiration from Japanese myths. Bloomylight is seeking $60,774 for their goal.
According to their Kickstarter page, Lynn revolves around the titular character (and her accomplice Aku), who is an apprentice priestess of INAO island. Things are peaceful, as humans, gods, and spirits live in harmony. However, awry things start to take place, and the delicate balance of the island is disrupted, which draw spirits to attack the villagers. INAO is now under panic and distress, and it’s up to Lynn to discover the evil’s origin and exorcise it.
Lynn draws heavy inspiration from Hayao Myazaki’s films, while also combining the old school 2D platforming feel from the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo era. It will incorporate a Metroidvania style level design not similar to Dust, and will also feature plenty of side-quests to complete. At this time of writing, the Kickstarter has 141 backers, and raised $3,160 with 29 days left. Personally, I’m a bit curious to see how this plays out, as I’m a huge fan of Metroidvania titles, along with the Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away films. Their current goal is for a PC release via Steam, but plan to expand to other platformers with more financial support.
