Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- shows off graphical enhancements0 Comments
Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is just a few months away from release, and there have been many changes since SIGN. Besides new characters, stages, and balance changes, there have also been several graphical enhancements. Thanks to the franchise’s transition to 3D models, it’s been far easier to give the title some visual love. If the above demonstration is an indicator of anything, Revelator is certainly stepping up a few notches.
For starters, the majority of the changes involve lighting. Its new global lighting system will allow characters, projectiles, and even special moves act as their own light sources, which will give the fights more visual flair. To accentuate this, the stages themselves have been enhanced to demonstrate the new lighting effects, especially the Central Organ Tower stage at sunset. A couple of good examples are giving Sol’s Gunflame its own light source to give his model a little more depth, and his air combos even show shadows fluctuating across his body.
Personally, although the changes are seldom subtle, the tweaks are much appreciated. It’s great to see Arc System Works applying more changes than just the standard fare, and the graphical enhancements really show their care for the upcoming title. Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- enters the ring for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on May 26 in Japan, June 7 in North America, and June 10 in Europe.
