Hyper Light Drifter cooperative mode beta is now live0 Comments
Developer Heart Machine's hit action RPG Hyper Light Drifter has found fans from across all walks of gaming, and has apparently done so without one of the game's intended original features — a co-op mode. Fortunately, the multiplayer mode is back, with a currently-underway beta test that will run through to the start of May.
According to the game's Steam page, the original cooperative mode was cut due to time constraints, but the team had so much fun with it that they've decided to go back and complete it. As per the standard fashion, the beta test will help the team iron out all of the kinks before it makes an official debut within the game.
Players will be able to access the multiplayer beta mode until May 2 at 1 AM EST. The process for activating the beta seems pretty simple: players just need to right click on the game in their Steam library, navigate to Properties and then to Betas, then select "coop." After that, the cooperative mode can be enabled within the game's start menu. Players can choose between keyboard and controller, or alternatively, both players can use controllers. Just be warned, activating co-op disables the game's achievements.
If the co-op mode is as fun as Heart Machine says, there's really no reason not to give it a try. The game itself is considered superb, with our own Grant Patterson giving it a 9 out of 10 score, stating, "Hyper Light Drifter is a beautiful game, unapologetically adherent to the gameplay principles and mechanics it relies on, and is a worthy homage to the legendary franchises it emulates so well."
