Kit Harington's role in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has been revealed0 Comments
While there's no denying that game studios draw in some of the most talented workers in the industry, the likes of Hollywood talent isn't always in a game's budget. Of course, that's not a problem for Activision, who have tapped on some very recognizable names for their upcoming release Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Just earlier this week we saw Game of Thrones star Kit Harington jumping into what looked like a motion capture rig over at the Activision studio, and now we have official confirmation from the the game's narrative director Taylor Kurosaki as to Harington's involvement with the title: in a direction completely opposite to his well-known heroic role in the HBO series, Harrington will be playing the villain in Infinite Warfare.
"Our story is about an epic showdown of opposing forces," Kurosaki said, "and Kit immersed himself into the role and truly became the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front."
The studio has also pulled support from the talented director Guy Ritchie, who is known for the likes of Snatch, Revolver, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Though his specific duties aren't specified, Infinity Ward studio head Dave Stohl did state that he'd be lending a helping hand with the game's villain.
"Guy Ritchie is a friend of the franchise, so it was great to have him back to work with us, assisting in bringing Kit Harington's character to life in Infinite Warfare," Stohl said.
Some may be worried to hear that the likes of TV and movie stars are getting involved in their favorite game franchises — Hollywood and video games don't always mix well, historically speaking — but in the case of these two big names, to say nothing of the involvement of Infinity Ward, it's hard not to get excited.
