Megaman's new cartoon series may lead the way for a franchise revival0 Comments
The American arm of legendary Japanese advertising agency and production juggernaut Dentsu has revealed the existence of a new Megaman animated series. They have enlisted the screenwriting talents of BEN 10 creators Man of Action, who will be responsible for developing the screenplay and developing the series' plot, while DEUSA (Dentsu USA, get it) will be financing the production as well as serving as the primary creative directors for the project. They aim to release the series in 2017, which happens to be the thirtieth anniversary of the Megaman franchise.
Now, this brings up two interesting things to consider. One, the fact that we're getting a new animated series means that Capcom is trying to re-market the franchise to the younger set, who are likely the children of the original fans. Two, Capcom wouldn't be trying to put this much time and care into a cartoon spinoff if it didn't have something else tying to it...which, if you think about it, would most likely be a resurrection of the Megaman video game franchise.
I mean, that's just conjecture at this point, but it's plausible. Very plausible.
