Microsoft sets a date for E3 20160 Comments
Stop. Listen for a second. Can you hear it? Can you feel it? The 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo may be two months away, but the onslaught of announcements are already coming, with Microsoft setting the tone by releasing a date for its E3 2016 press conference.
The Microsoft briefing will take place at 9AM Pacific time on Monday June 13, kicking off what is usually a banner day for the industry and fans alike. Microsoft's 2016 presser should feature Gears of War 4, Crackdown 3, Halo Wars 2, Rare's next game Sea of Thieves, and more, including the usual surprise announcements saved for the show.
Last year Microsoft had a good showing with Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Xbox backward compatibility, and the debuting Gears of War 4. We won't know what 2016 will bring until June 13, but let the speculation begin!
If you're asking me two months out, I'd say HoloLens and the PC/Xbox hybrid environment will factor heavily, as will the games mentioned above. As for big surprises, I can't really think of anything other than a dip into the Xbox franchise vault...maybe a restart to the Phantom Dust reboot? A full on Battletoads reboot? I can't wait to find out.
