Minecraft for consoles is getting a new PvP Battle mode0 Comments
Minecraft has always been a fount of creativity. Skins and mods galore been released for the title throughout the years, and the game has even recently gotten a Super Mario-themed overhaul that counts as one of the biggest game crossovers of all time. And yet, developer Mojang isn't quite done bringing new concepts to the fold. According to a recent announcement, the console versions of Minecraft will soon play host to a new gameplay mode inspired by the players called Battle.
Battle is a new PvP gameplay style that emphasizes use of randomly-generated resources set across a selection of specifically-designed maps. The mode supports up to eight players, all of whom will enjoy a brief period of invulnerability at the start of matches where they're encouraged to gather as many resources as possible. After that, contenders must make the best use they can of what they've managed to scrounge together in order to defeat their opponents.
This sort of thing isn't unheard of in Minecraft, as players have been creating their own forms of entertainment within the game since the very beginning. The only real difference now is the infrastructure that is put in place to help streamline the action — as far as is known, the rest of the Minecraft experience remains the same.
The update that includes the Battle mode will release for free on consoles sometime next month.
