More Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector’s Editions may be on the way0 Comments
Did you desperately want the Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector's Edition that was announced during Uncovered Final Fantasy? You weren't the only one. Even at the sky high price of $269.99, many series fans were desperate to get their hands on this edition. Available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it includes the game, a hardcover artbook, soundtracks, Noctis figure, and Blu-Rays of both the upcoming anime and film.
The edition is also currently limited to 30,000 — and sold out in just a few minutes. As with any collector's edition, many of the pre-orders went to video game scalpers who are now attempting to pre-sell their copies for even more money. Luckily, many fans were also fortunate enough to snap up a copy before the Ultimate Collector's Edition sold out. What of everyone else who wanted a copy, though?
Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata shared a message via Twitter which may calm those displeased fans:
"And by the pre-orders for the Ultimate Collector’s Edition vanished in a flash, and we’ve received plenty of voices from those that weren’t able to acquire it. We are terribly sorry about that. At the moment, we’re continuing with internal coordination to see if we can somehow increase its production. We will make an announcement as soon as there’s any progress!"
While this is not confirmation that there will be more limited editions to go around, it is exciting to see that they are listening to fans. They're also doing at least a little bit to curtail the biggest scalpers out there. He also stated that "we will follow protocol to handle what appears to be unusual orders that may seem like they were made for resale purposes." Square Enix Store procedures are unable to capture every scalper, but at least they are interested in stopping folks who likely made multiple purchases.
