New Shadow of the Beast includes the original as an unlockable0 Comments
The return of Shadow of the Beast is just around the corner now, and developer Heavy Spectrum's CEO has taken to PlayStation Blog to share a few of the ways that this new title honors the original. If you were a fan of the 1989 Shadow of the Beast, then you'll be glad to hear that this new one is full of unlocks that will stoke the nostalgic flames in your heart.
While the team hopes to create a new game that will please both returning fans and those new to the franchise, they recognize that the original no doubt holds a special place for many. As such, one of the unlockables in Shadow of the Beast is the entire original game. It can be played in all of its classic, challenging glory, or you can utilize new options such as infinite lives to make it a bit more bearable to get through.
There's another pretty cool unlock mentioned, as well. Ian Livingstone composed the soundtrack for this new title, and he did so seeking to both call back to David Whittaker's original as well as compliment this new take on the game. However, Whittaker's original soundtrack can actually be unlocked within the game, and can be set to play as an alternative soundtrack to accompany the new game. You can also unlock pieces of the original artwork to have a look through.
Shadow of the Beast claws its way onto PlayStation 4 on May 17.
