Physical retail Minecraft 'Favorites Pack' edition coming this summer0 Comments
Not long ago it might have seemed unusual for gamers to prefer purchasing games in a digital-only format. Times have changed, of course, but there are still those who prefer the older method — you know, the one that results in a copy you can store on a shelf and bring over to a friend's house on occasion. For gamers of that mindset who have yet to pick up Minecraft for Xbox One, good news has arrived: Mojang has recently announced a new retail version of the game including the "Favorites Pack" add-on collection.
The "Favorites Pack" includes seven of the best-selling Minecraft add-ons: Battle and Beasts Skin Pack, Battle and Beasts 2 Skin Pack, Festive Mash-up, Halo Mash-up, and the Natural, City, and Fantasy texture packs. The content bundle includes over 120 skins, and sells altogether for a normal retail price of $14. Seeing as how the new version of the game sells for $30 (up $10 from the normal retail price), the included add-ons account for a savings of $4.
While the "Favorites Pack" edition of Minecraft is not a new release — the digital version has been available through the Xbox Store since last November — the physical retail version is. Perhaps Mojang wants to make sure the last of those classically-raised video game consumers can still get their Minecraft fix. Regardless, players of that mindset can look forward to scooping up the new version of the game when it launches in North America on June 21.
