Psychonauts gets surprise early release on PlayStation 40 Comments
Playing PlayStation 2 games on the PlayStation 4 might not be everyone's bag, but it's certainly a cool way of revisiting older titles and earning a few delicious trophies along the way. While not all of the PS2 games currently being offered are particularly interesting, keen gamers perked their ears up when Sony announced that the 2005 classic Psychonauts would be coming to PlayStation 4 later in the year.
In January, Sony teased that the game would be releasing sometime in the spring. Just last Sunday, they said it would be coming "soon, but not this week." Well, surprise! It's out now. Fans can pick the game up right this moment via the PlayStation Store, assuming they have the requisite 10 bucks and 2.5 GB of free space on their hard drives.
Psychonauts enjoyed immense success after its original release, with players and critics alike praising the game's art style, soundtrack, characters, plot, and level design. It's even been lauded as the very best game ever helmed by Tim Schafer, a man already well-known for his creativity. As PS2 classics on PS4 go, then, picking up Psychonauts is a no-brainer.
