Rumor: Driveclub VR potentially outed by ESRB0 Comments
Driveclub developer Evolution Studios shut its doors last month, also presumably shutting down any future Driveclub titles. If the ESRB's latest listing are right, our presumption of Driveclub's demise may have been hasty.
A new listing appeared on the ESRB site for a game called Driveclub VR — a listing that has since been removed, curiously — but did not give any more details than that. Sony has not officially commented on the listing, planting this firmly in the "rumor" category for now.
A Driveclub VR would make sense, considering that Sony did say it would take over development of the game after Evolution's closure, and a VR Driveclub demo did appear at the Paris Games Show back in October. At the time the demo was called a "prototype" by the game's lead developer, but it could have become more since then.
I fully expected one of the first PlayStation VR games to be a racing game, so this DriveClub VR idea makes perfect sense. While I wish Evolution was still working on it — and then moving right on to another Motorstorm game — I guess this is a good way to keep the studio's legacy going. I have a feeling we'll hear more about this come E3.
