Severed is slashing its way onto your Vita later this month0 Comments
The brilliant minds behind Guacamelee! and the Tales from Space series have finally announced a release date for their newest title – and it’s coming later this month!
Drinkbox Studios has been hard at work on the next game to add to their impressive list of releases, Severed, for over two years now. The game was originally slated for a release in spring of 2015, but after a slew of delays it wasn’t clear when the game would be released.
Now the team has announced that their PlayStation Vita exclusive title will be hitting the PlayStation Store on April 26 for $15, with PlayStation Plus members receiving a 10% discount the first week of release.
In Severed, players will take on the role of Sasha, a fierce one-armed warrior who wields a living sword. She wakes up one day in a strange new world to find her family missing, and sets off to rescue them.
The gameplay is very touchscreen-focused, utilizing the Vita’s dual touchscreen hardware to its fullest potential. Players will use their fingers to hack and slash their way through the enemies of Severed’s heavily stylized and colorful world. Between monsters, players will explore the world using first-person dungeon crawling mechanics that harken back to classics like The Bard’s Tale.
Players don’t need to wait until Severed’s release to immerse themselves in the game’s quizzical atmosphere, either. Right now, the game’s soundtrack, composed by YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN and guests Pantayo, is available for streaming and download on Bandcamp.
