Skullgirls 2nd Encore pummeling onto the Vita this week0 Comments
Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be opening curtains on a new chapter in its life, which should realistically be called Skullgirls 3rd Encore at this point. The PlayStation 4 game will be releasing on the PS Vita on April 5, according to a recent announcement by developer Lab Zero Games.
The Vita version of the fighting game was planned for release last year, but because of the extensive amount of hand-drawn frames in Skullgirls, Lab Zero pushed it back to ensure they were releasing the same high-quality product they had the past two times. The Vita version has also added in touch-screen macros which will allow players to customize the touch screen to swap out fighters, call in assist attacks, or anything else you want to map.
The new edition will also be cross-play with both the PlayStation 3 and 4 consoles, and will be cross-buy with the PS4. If you already own Skullgirls 2nd Encore, you'll be able to download the Vita version after the update rolls through on Tuesday. Finally, Skullgirls will be one of the few games that will support local multiplayer on PSTV, if you're one of those people like me who bought a PSTV for the sole purpose of playing Vita games on the big screen.
Skullgirls 2nd Encore is the game where I received my baptism by blood at the hands of Deputy Editor and fighting game guru Grant Patterson, and remains my go-to fighter to date. The combat is intuitive and easy enough for beginners to pick up, but like any true fighting game it requires consistent practice to master each character's unique style. The best part of the game for beginners is the exceptionally detailed tutorial system that teaches you everything from the basics to advanced techniques, as well as lessons on playing as each character.
