Sony reminds PlayStation 4 users of upcoming service maintenance period0 Comments
Online service outages are an unfortunate reality these days, but luckily not all outages take us by surprise. No, some of them are just the regular old "scheduled maintenance" variety, such as the one Sony is reminding PlayStation 4 users to expect next week.
The scheduled maintenance period is set to begin on Tuesday, May 24 at 9:30 pm PST and conclude two hours later at 11:30 pm PST, or Wednesday, May 25 12:30 am to 2:30 am EST for East coast players. Sony has also explained that only the PlayStation 4 will be affected during that period.
Even then, users shouldn't necessarily expect a total disruption of services, as Sony has stated that users should still be able to play games and use "most applications" — basically anything other than Account Management, PlayStation Video, and the PlayStation Store — during the maintenance.
"We strive to ensure that PlayStation Network services are available at all times," reads a statement on the PlayStation Service Status website, "but occasionally we must take PlayStation Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements. We are working hard to reduce the duration of each maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience."
