Sony San Diego acknowledges MLB The Show 16 online issues, offers free DLC0 Comments
MLB The Show 16 has been out in the wild for over two weeks now, but the game has been plagued with online connectivity issues since day one, so much so that developer Sony San Diego has apologized on the online forums.
A thread titled "A message about the state of online in MLB The Show 16 (4/8/16)" appeared on The Show Nation community forums, acknowledging the frequent issues and offering some recompense to the many Show players.
"We apologize that the excitement of launch and the start of the season has been soured by these issues," the forum post wrote. "Our team is taking every step necessary and working around the clock to stabilize our online servers as soon as possible."
In order to make good with its fanbase, Sony San Diego has offered a hefty peace offering: if you’ve played The Show 16 while connected to PlayStation Network before 1 pm PDT, Friday, April 8, they’re adding 5,000 stubs and 10 standard packs to your account. Those online items are scheduled to appear by this Tuesday, April 12.
In this modern age of video games, online problems are no longer surprising — if anything they're expected — but seeing a developer openly apologize and give out some free online currency is pretty cool. Of course, two weeks of issues is a big problem, and I can only hope people won't start screaming for free stuff when a game can't connect online for only a day. That would be a little much.
