Supergiant Games' next title is Pyre0 Comments
Supergiant Games have really made a name for themselves over the past few years. This tiny developer (currently comprised of just 12 main staff members) has managed to produce two incredible games since their debut. Have you ever heard of a little game by the name of Bastion? Or perhaps you're more familiar with Transistor? In either case, they've definitely gained a strong following as a result of both titles.
Now they've announced their next project: Pyre. Basically, it's a party-based RPG where players must travel through a magical purgatory with a group of exiles in tow. The team must compete in an ancient competition in order to make their way through and be absolved of their past crimes. Supergiant Games haven't revealed much about the gameplay itself just yet, but you can see some brief glimpses of it in the reveal trailer.
Of course, the next question on everyone's mind is where and when Pyre will actually launch. As of right now it is planned for release in 2017 with a dual launch on PC via Steam and PlayStation 4. This is same path that Transistor took initially. Supergiant Games says that the "console debut" is exclusively PS4, but it is currently unknown if they will ever pursue PlayStation Vita or even Xbox One versions. Those who will be attending PAX East have the chance to actually check out Pyre in person. Unfortunately, there's likely to be quite a wait to take their ten minute demo for a spin.
