The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid is a first-person homage to the series0 Comments
After being supremely disappointed when the fan-made remake Metal Gear Solid: Shadow Moses was canceled, this news has cheered me up substantially. Not willing to go down for the count, the team behind the defunct project have announced a brand new homage to the series in the vein of a first-person Solid Snake experience.
The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid will take players across some of the most well-known and classic moments from the series, in a first-person perspective that will additionally support VR. If that news wasn't already great enough, long-time voice of Snake, David Hayter, has joined the project to provide that essential gravitas to the protagonist's voice.
We don't even have to wait to see what it could look like, because the development team have already crafted a gameplay trailer to show off their vision for The Fan Legacy. While the game on the whole is essentially fan-made, it will have another level of appreciation in the fan-made artwork that will line the newly designed levels. According to the developers, "as an unofficial, non-profit production, the project is a gift, from the fans, but also addressed to the fans; to share our affection for the seminal franchise."
With the announcement that David Hayter is on board for the project after initially stating he was done with the Metal Gear Solid franchise, this already has the makings of a solid homage to the series. We won't have to wait long, because The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid is releasing for PC in May. There has been no announcement of a console port as of yet.
