The Stanley Parable designer releases new free game The Temple of No0 Comments
There's much and more that can be said about The Stanley Parable, the interactive fiction title that was originally developed as a Half Life 2 mod. It was unique, to say the least. And in the years since that game's formal release, designer William Pugh has been working on a number of fresh new experiences with a fresh new studio called Crows Crows Crows. The studio released Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist, an entirely-free first-person adventure title, in April of last year, and now they're giving players a new free game to check out in the form of the text-based adventure The Temple of No.
The new game is based upon Twine, and, being text-based, features the sort of simple branching narratives that players might expect from the genre. Like with The Stanley Parable, explaining away the details of the game would sort of ruin the fun, but rest assured that there's plenty of humor. Interested players can check it out over on Crows Crows Crows' itch.io page.
Making entirely-free games isn't the best business model, of course, but followers of Pugh's work will be happy to hear that the studio is still working on a more robust title. Speaking in an e-mail to Eurogamer, Pugh said the studio has put two years' work into the title, and assured that more details would be arriving "very soon."
