Two men fall off cliff while playing Pokemon Go0 Comments
Back in the '90s when concerned parents and advocacy groups warned the public that video games were dangerous, they probably didn't imagine that distracted gamers would be absent-mindedly walking into dangerous situations. Alas, just such a thing has most recently happened in California, where two men managed to fall off an oceanside cliff while playing Pokémon Go.
Both of the men took a considerable plunge; one player fell 50 feet onto the bluffs, while the other fell between 80 and 90 feet and wound up on the beach. Lifeguards were able to treat the man who fell to the beach, while the other had to be rescued by firefighters using ropes and harnesses. According to a news release from the city of Encinitas, both men were sent to Scripps La Jolla Trauma Center with "moderate injuries."
This isn't the first time that Pokémon Go players have found themselves in surprising or dangerous situations. One player managed to crash into a tree while simultaneously playing the game and driving; another player found herself stumbling upon a corpse floating down a river while hunting for Pokémon. There's no doubt that Pokémon Go will continue to make headlines, as the game is a tremendous worldwide phenomenon, but hopefully this will be the last story to see gamers getting hurt.
