Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin announced for Japan in spring 20160 Comments
Valkyrie Profile fans might be in luck: Square Enix has announced a new JRPG, Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin (VAO), which is “planned for distribution” in Japan for spring 2016. If that wasn’t legitimate enough, their teaser website portrays the Valkyrie Profile franchise’s iconic goddess, with the quote “Destiny undone in the name of the Divine” wrapped around the logo. VAO will be produced by Yoshinori Yamagishi, its music will feature the talented Moto Sakuraba, and the scenario will be written by Daisuke “Bun-O” Fujisawa. There has been no new information about the title’s story, but given the title, it could imply a prequel to the series á la Drakengard 3.
The announcement is fantastic news for Valkyrie Profile fans, because it has been a decade since their last entry in the iconic series. However, it’s worth noting that the platform hasn’t been announced. Also, since the title is releasing so soon, especially in tandem with the word “distribution," it’s a possibility that it could be a Japanese exclusive smartphone title. That being said, any game is better than nothing at this point; but personally, I’m hoping it will be a PlayStation 4 and/or PS Vita title.
